SRM, Publisher is a rare thing -- a paper publishing project built on -- and by -- an internet community of science fiction readers. So far all of our publications are in a chapbook format, and all are written by Steve Miller or Sharon Lee -- or Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.

While major publishers look to sell hundreds of thousands of each title we at SRM, Publisher work on a much more modest scale: we shoot for a mark of hundreds of copies of a title. This isn't lack of ambition on our part but rather an acknowldgement that our audience is a specialized one. After all, we've never sold a Star Wars®, Star Trek®, Babylon 5®, or X-Files® book; we've never been asked to novelize a major motion picture or even a dumb TV show.

If SRM, Publisher can continue to reach the readers and fans who appreciate the works of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, it will act as a modest proof that not all "sci-fi" has to be branded and sold like soap in order to find an audience.
